By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Define and explain the concept of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and distinguish it from
General English.
2. Identify and analyze learners’ needs in specific professional or academic contexts (needs
analysis).
3. Differentiate between major branches of ESP (e.g., EAP, EOP) and their characteristics.
4. Apply appropriate methods and approaches used in ESP course design and teaching.
5. Select and evaluate authentic materials relevant to specific fields (e.g., medicine, business,
engineering).
6. Design basic ESP lessons or course outlines tailored to a specific target group.
7. Use appropriate language skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening) in specialized contexts.
8. Evaluate ESP programs and suggest improvements based on learners’ needs and outcomes.
